The
NCFIA
Francis "Lucky" Hanson Scholarship
The Northern California Fraud Investigators
Association is a 600 member professional
organization dedicated to improving the detection, deterrence
and prevention of fraud and white collar crime. We are also
committed to the education of the men and women who will
be the fraud fighters of the future.
As
an investment in the future, the NCFIA
will award up to three Francis "Lucky" Hanson
college scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each for the
academic year. In order to be eligible, students must
be registered as a full time student at a recognized college
or university. There is currently no specific requirement
as to the major or intended course of study, for applicants.
This scholarship is open to relatives and friends of members
of the NCFIA.
The
deadline for the submission of the next scholarship application
is May 1 annually. The committee will decide winners in the Summer.
Scholarships will be announced at the quarterly meeting in September.
The committee will select recipients on the basis of overall academic achievement as demonstrated
by official college or university transcripts, three (3)
letters of recommendation (including at least one from a
member of the Association), and an original essay (not to
exceed 250 words) explaining why the applicant deserves
the scholarship and how the awareness of fraud will affect
his or her professional development.
